The Speech Program for Autism is specifically designed to help children with autism and related neurodevelopmental disorders overcome speech difficulties. Tools And Strategies For Home Practice
In order to improve the effectiveness of our speech program, we educate parents on creating a nurturing environment at home. We advise parents to use the same strategies they learn from their child’s therapy sessions, such as asking questions and encouraging their children to participate in family conversations.
We use storytelling to engage autistic kids and utilize books to illustrate the story. Parents can do the same at home by describing pictures to their kids and creating stories. They can also create visual aids tailored to the interests of non-verbal children or those with limited vocabulary.
A Play-based Speech Program For Developing Language Skills
Our Speech Program is a child-led, play-based initiative designed to nurture budding language skills in children with autism. The program includes evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as oral placement therapy, verbal behavior training, reciprocal imitation, language modeling, and principles of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) for autism.
Each session is customized to make speech learning enjoyable for kids, incorporating activities like storytelling, role-playing, group play, and interactive games. Such routine activity is used for language modeling and to develop language skills. By integrating therapy with play, we aim to help children with autism start speaking.
